About
My name is Tyler Banks, I am currently a first year graduate student at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. I recently completed my undergraduate degree at Weber State University in Ogden Utah where I obtained my Bachelors in theatre arts with an emphasis in cosutme design.
In the theater world, I enjoy the collaboration between the various technical elements, and have dabbled in each one individually Working as a team to turn the text to into visual imagery is always an exciting challenge that fuels my passion for design, specifically costume design.
Through my work and studies with Weber State University, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theater Company, and Western Wyoming Community College, I have gained hands on experience in the worlds of costume design, construction, and maintenance. These facilities also exposed me to wardrobe management and wardrobe services.
My skills include machine sewing with both domestic and industrial sewing machines, hand sewing basic millinery, flat patterning, cutting, and draping. I have work experience as the costume designer, assistant designer, first hand, stitcher, wardrobe manager, and wardrobe crew member.
I pride myself on my ability to bring a positive attitude into the work place daily. I manage stress very well and I am very focused when it comes to my work in the costume industry. I know how to put my full effort into what I am doing and how to keep my social life from interfering with it.
